“When Silence Breaks” is part of a series of Unweaving works I’ve developed since 2020, centred around the oval or elliptical shape. The “egg” symbolizes origins, perfection, strength, and fragility, drawing from ancient cultural references to the universe. In this work, I push the boundaries of digital weaving by disrupting the balance between warp and weft, exposing the warp and alternating between dense and loose bindings. Breaking the surface and form reflects the vulnerability inherent in the creation process and life itself. The years-long struggle to master this balance has now evolved into embracing its opposite—creating tension in the open, fragile spaces.
Photographer of the work: Alf-Georg Dannevig from the exhibition in Kristiansand.
